We founded desktop™ a public and community driven virtual desktop forum, aimed at newcomers to virtual desktop technology. It provides a space for generally non-technical desktop users to learn about these technologies and get advice, tech reviews and answers.
The virtual desktop forum was originally founded and contributed to by a group of freelance desktop virtualization consultants but our forum has now grown into an online virtual desktop ecosystem and we have contributors and commentary from lots of different sources and individuals. We pride ourselves on being independent as we can be and giving our visitors some level headed advice and solid opinion on the different virtual desktop technologies out there.
This website has grown out of our forum and more than anything we do not just want to be another virtual desktop review site, making money from our reviews and ranking providers according to what they pay us. You will notice little if any advertising across our forums and sites and we also happen to believe that professional integrity is important.
As interest in virtual desktops grows, we can see new emerging and although competition is healthy, hype is being liberally applied to any discussion of the subject, either unknowingly or deliberately. There are different ways of deploying a desktop but there is only really one way to get it right and this is quite a basic thing, the technology doesnt matter but your virtual desktop needs to work the way you want it to.
We wanted to provide balanced reviews that looked at every aspect of a vendors offering from the infrastructure, to their technology, their back-up technology, their disaster prevention policy and also their financial stability. We also provide clear pricing for all of our reviewed providers and update it regularly, so be sure to link to us and come back again.
We show a lot of love to providers who go out of their way to be environmentally friendly, offer 'green' virtual desktops and can prove their green credentials. We make a point of reviewing providers who have been around for at least a year and who can demonstrate that they are technically proficient, have a solid infrastructure and that they have a healthy virtual desktop client base. You will always know that we are only reviewing the established virtual desktop players in the space.
When we conduct our reviews, we deputize members from our forum and send them off as 'mystery' shoppers to really find out what providers are like. We also get test desktops from vendors directly so that we can thoroughly test their virtual desktops in our own time.
Our spiritual home, the virtual desktop forum is open to everyone so please feel free to join the conversation there. This review website and our desktop virtualization consulting website is part of the desktop™ group of websites and copyright of all reviews belongs to the virtual desktop people.
